I have seen alot of people say "old people" dont have good advice on raising a baby now because everything has changed and they have dated information. Well I listen to old people the girst person I call for advice is my grandmother. Yes I gave my son rice cereal in his bottle at 5 weeks like my grandmother recommanded. Yes my son started drinking water from the moment he came home from the hospital. My son use to have a problem having bowel movements and my doctor wanted me to give him medicines but I used Karo. I listen to older people they raised kids that survived.

I understand what you're saying but it scientifically proven that you should not be feeding a baby solid foods until their digestive system is properly working. there can be long-term effects that older people are just not aware of because the science was not there. and feeding a baby rice cereal out of a bottle is actually very dangerous when it comes to choking. Only certain babies because of certain ailments should be drinking rice cereal out of a bottle. this is all backed up by science, not opinion. many older people would tell you to let your baby cry it out or they'll tell you that you're spoiling your baby-- actually they used to tell you if you're going to kiss your baby only kiss him once and on the forehead. obviously Studies have proven this to be not healthy for the mental development of children. I've taken Child Development courses so I'm not just making this stuff up.
@mamalotus, thats fine we all have our owna opinions about the science. My son is 3 years old and completely happy and healthy. I do believe in crying it out I send my 3 year old to his bedroom to cry it out to this day and I kiss him all day long. I get complements on how my son loves water over anything else to drink and has never been a picky eater.
