My potential-future-step-kids woke me up at 6:25am... So Jakoby (8) is doing ticket to read... Trenton (10) is supposed to be bringing his bedding down and taking a shower because he "forgot" to this morning. (The deal is... if he wets the bed... He has to take a shower and bring the wet bedding and clothes down and put them in the washer and dryer so I can take care of it while they are at school.) Yay for the time change! Lol
He started the water... And then came down right afterwards with his socks and shoes still on & shirt off so it "looked" (too soon to have taken an actual shower). I told him he didn't have to get his hair wet... But he needed to wash his parts. So when he was taking the bedding downstairs... I went upstairs... And found a dry bath mat, floor & towel. (That would NEVER be dry if he actually took a shower) So I told him to take his shoes and socks off and the joggers (I just let him take out of the dirty clothes) and actually get in the shower.
He asked, "Why?!... I never have to do it at my Moms house." I told him... "Well... You know the rules here." "Why?" He asked. I said, "Because... (He closed the bathroom door as I was speaking) you can't go to school smelling like pee... And it's unhygienic." 🙄
Oh... And I have them solo because they're parents are both out of town. 😑

Kids are a handful. I don't have any stepchildren but my husband isn't the father of my first two so I know this must be what it's like dealing with my two kids when I'm gone. :/

Yep... It's hell!!!... I can't spank them... So I have to use food as an incentive, time outs and chores for discipline. Their Mom doesn't follow through with their punishments at her house (even though she's the one who came up with the punishment in the first place) They have no structure... And I've been working with kids my whole life and am having such a hard time with the inconsistency, lying, sneakiness & disrespect!
