if my baby doesn't wake up after 3 hours since last feeding, should I wake her up? or wait?? 😯
@nikilauren, Thank you. Yeah my baby is barely going to be a week and I'm just making sure that she eats enough. I mean it'd be nice to sleep throughout the night but I can't without making sure and knowing she eats first. I don't want her to starve.. 😯
I was told by the doctors before I left the hospital with my son to make sure he ate at least every 3-4 hours. If I didn't wake him within the first week, he probably would've slept for a good 7 hours without eating. Only the first week though. After that he woke up to eat pretty regularly.
I used to set alarms for every couple of hours to wake up and feed my son lol but after the first week or 2 they get on their own little feeding schedule and you'll miss them being so sleepy. His pediatrician said to wake him up and feed him to make sure the birthweight is sustained and then weight gain as normal. I know everyone has different opinions on this, but I know my son just wouldn't eat if I didn't wake him in that first week so definitely do whatever makes you feel more comfortable :)
