@missy84, yes hun, both times. 1st labour it worked really well. 2nd labour the 1st dose worked well the 2nd not so much but only cuz my son turned back to back during labour so i needed an epidural for forceps delivery x

I've not had it but it's been recommended to me by a few people! I've heard it can make you feel sick though, I guess that just depends on the person! X

I had it for my first, was good but made me feel totally spaced out and drugged up x

I had it and it didn't help at all for me I actually asked when they're giving it me an hour after I'd already had it 😂 He was back to back tho so it just didn't make a difference with the pain x

Gas and air if u get shown to use it properly is fab, I was never shown how to use it properly my last four deliveries and subsequently gave up and had an epidural but this time I had a fab midwife and when the pain got bad it was cos I wasn't doing it properly and she kept reminding me how to use it even when I was hanging sideways off the bed groaning as she rotated from posterior to anterior and I was arching myself all over the bed. I am so glad I was finally able to do my final delivery with only this.

I had diamorphine and it was great. Managed to get some rest but was high and talking about sounding like a cat when I had a contraction lol, I did end up being sick also but it was worth it! Was doing well on gas and air but was getting exhausted and ended up with complications x

I didn't have it during labour but when I got sepsis after I had to have it and gas and air any time anyone came within an inch of my wound and it felt so so good, I think it's the best thing for if you want to get some sleep in the early stages xx

Hi hun :) Haven't had it...but I think you should see how you are in labour...because believe it or not...some women have wanted all pain relief under the sun...but when it has come to it...they have done it on little to nothing :) I was adamant on just using gas and air..which suited me perfectly :) But ended up having to have a spinal (not a choice of mine) so bare that in mind hun...be prepared for something you don't want :) I was pushing on nothing for an hour...and my girl was back to back :) You can always change your mind during labour anyway hun xxx

Pushing was a better relief on the pressure than gas and air xx

I had gas and air and diamorphine. It made me sleep through the contractions but also made me very sick. It only worked for a couple of hours though before wearing off and the midwives said I couldn't have another shot so soon. However, I would opt for it again. I didn't want the epidural either but when I was in labour and the diamorphine wore off I basically screamed for an epidural! Unfortunately I couldn't have one as I was ready to push by this stage. It's best to see how you deal with the pain and keep in mind that the options for pain relief are there xx

I had pethadine with my first labour and it made me drowsy which then made me struggle to stay awake and push as well as i should of been doing, maybe some ladies have had good experiences with it? but mine was rotten would never ever touch the stuff again 😣 with my 2nd labour i just used gas and air and it was much more straight forward and easier x
