It usually takes about 3-5 days. You'll know when it has came in. Your breast will look & feel so much different, they'll look full.

@dang_dridri, should I still pump everyday even if I'm not producing anything thing? Cuz I can't nurse her at all my nipples start cracking

Yes still pump every 2-3 hours at least if you can't put her to breast. Do you have lanolin or a nipple cream? You can also try a nipple shield to help with the pain & discomfort.

@dang_dridri, okay and for how long? Sorry I'm asking so many questions! And I have lanolin I use it doesn't help, my daughter has a great latch my nipples just aren't standing up to the task.

No you're fine. Lol. It's good to ask questions. & if pumping do 15-20 minutes. You want mimic her feeding patterns so you keep your supply up. If she's on breast she'll release the nipple when she's done. & that's normal. If you do decide to put her on your breast it's normal to have pains, itching, etc in the beginning while your nipples adjust. The nipple shield helps me a lot because feeding two can be painful!

It's actually not recommended to pump before 4-6 weeks. But I do understand the frustration. Your milk will come mama don't worry. Baby's tummy is soooo small right now they do not need to eat a lot, that's why they eat so many times. It's alright if you aren't producing a ton of milk right now. If pain is an issue, I would really suggest a nipple shield and coconut oil. Put coconut oil on after every feeding.

I pumped out my milk but did supplement the first day for medical reasons but if she doesn't have jaundice or something I wouldn't do formula
