I am a #proudmommy. ❤ From the moment my daughter was born, I have suffered from postpartum depression and anxiety. It became so bad that I didn't enjoy her, didn't want to be around her. Still, I remained silent out of embarrassment and fear of judgment. Eventually, it got so bad that last month, I tried to take my life. I pulled through, though, and though I don't remember it, when I was in the hospital blacked out, all I wanted was her. I cried for her. Begged them to let me see her. Looked for her. Asked about her. I spent two weeks in a behavioral hospital getting better.

Since getting out, I have had to adjust to normal life again. It's been hard. Stressful. But I've pulled through. I enjoy life more. I enjoy my daughter more. I still struggle everyday: it's a battle, and it is long and it is difficult. But I will never stop fighting. I love her more than anything, and I think I need her more than she needs me. She's learned so much in just four short months and I am so proud of her. She looks just like me, and she acts just like her daddy, which I absolutely love. I know when she gets older, we'll be the best of friends.

My mom wasn't around as a child. She abandoned us. And I realized that..I can't do that to her. She needs a mother. I want the chance to be there for her like I wanted, needed my mom to be. My mom inspires me to be the complete opposite of her. I will never abandon or give up on my daughter. She is my everything and I'm so happy to be her mommy. 💕

Your story is inspiring and I'm so grateful you shared it. I'm an advocate for post partum awareness and I hate to see mothers suffer in silence. I had issues as well and I had a hard time talking to anyone for the same reasons as you. That is one of my biggest frustrations about PPD is that mothers have to suffer and be afraid of speaking up. My mom didn't abandon me but she was a horrible person growing up. Physically and mentally abusive towards us children. About 10 years ago, she lost a baby at 19 weeks and her doctor prescribed her Zoloft. She has been a different person since then. When she had me and my siblings 20+ years ago, they didn't call it PPD... it was baby blues and women were told that they would get over it. Well, she suffered from PPD horribly. And with each child she had, it got worse and worse and she suffered through it until 10 years ago when a doctor CARED enough to say "you're not okay. You need help, and that's okay". Doctors need to be advocates for their patients. I am sorry that you went through what you did. But I'm sure you're glad that it has brought you to where you are today. Sorry for the rant, but I feel so strongly about PPD and the women that deal with it. Your story has truly inspired me. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing❤
