I slept trained a week before my daughter was 2 months. She has been sleeping in her own room in her own crib since then and she is turning 7 months in 3 days. It's was hard at first on me but it's good to teach them to be independent. I never used one but I would recommend a baby monitor. I never bought one because I put her crib by the door and my bed where I can see her crib. Now when she wakes up she crawls to the end of her crib looks at me sleeping and just says "mama" over and over until I get up. Our bedrooms are right across from each other. Also I started with naps in her crib then slowly eased into her sleeping at night in her crib.

@babynessa, So would you recommend starting with naps in the crib as opposed to just putting her in there? She sleeps in her pack N play sometimes during the day. But I have yet to put her in the crib. Ava is super independent and has been sleeping from 9:30p-6:30a for the last week so we decided it was time to try putting her in the crib. I bought the angelcare monitor that alerts if there is NO movement for 15 secs. Our bedroom is right across the hall too.

I started with naps in the crib. I would rock my daughter have her fall asleep in my arms then place her in her crib. If she woke up I would let her cry for a minute go into her room rock her again and lay her back down. It takes dedication and patients. Once my daughter had no problems with that then I started putting her in her crib at night. It took me about a week to get her to nap in her crib and sleep during the night in her crib. Once she hit about 4 months I trained her to put herself to sleep with no help from me rocking her or any bottle. @spayanes85

My son is only 7 weeks but I have been letting him nap in his crib since day one. Not always sometimes he skips several days and naps n my arms or on the sofa bc he cant roll or anything and I can get my cleaning done with him in living room. We have a cosleeper attached to our bed that's where he sleeps every night I also have the angel care monitor but haven't used it once. I just come and check on him every couple mins during the day most of the time he naps while I clean his room and fold his clothes so it works good for us this way

Another thing when you start putting her in her crib at night have a routine. My routine was tummy time. Then I gave her a bath at 7pm and after that I read to her then a bottle and a prayer and bed by 7:45pm. My routine is a little different now I feed her a meal then bath, then read a couple books, then a sippy of formula, more play, brush her teeth, prayer then bed. It can be any routine just something that she can associate bed time with. If thats putting her in her pjs every night at the same time and singing a bedtime song just something you do before bed so she learns that "hey my mommy is putting my pjs on and singing to me. It's almost time for bed." Thats helps as well. I also made sure she naped at the same time every day.I hope that helps.

@babynessa, we have established a routine already. I bathe her around 8-830 then 4 1/2 oz bottle....then she sleeps til 630am.
