Ugh. My SO always gets butthurt when I come visit my family. It seriously pisses me off. Every time I tell him I'm coming to the valley, he gets upset. Meanwhile I don't have a choice and have to spend all my time with his family. I hate that his mom influences him a lot also. He does work a lot, but she acts like if he doesn't eat he is going to die. She's always like, "Oh no you're leaving what about him? He's not going to eat". Ugh. He is a GROWN MAN.

he knows where the kitchen is. I'm sure he knows how to use an oven or microwave. he doesn't have to cook a 5 course fancy meal. you deserve to see your family too.

Oh boo hoo, he'll be fine I'm sure his mom will make him meals. Besides family is important (seeing that you get along w them)

@leahsmommi, that's true, but she literally treats him like a little boy. She's always like "oh my baby hasn't ate". She'll literally be knocking on our door sometimes saying "you need to eat son". I get it she's a mom, but he's not a little boy either.

Mine is 29 and is just getting over his mom, kinda. We moved tho so we aren't close to either, besides him n his mom we aren't close to anyone else. I have one aunt who helps me and I guess it's easier for me to let go of family. But buy was it hard to get him to get over his mommy. @ingridm89

@leahsmommi, I don't think this would happen if we didn't live with his mom, but since we do I have to put up with it. What I'm just having an issue with is how he changes when I go visit my family. I know it bothers him and I don't know why.

@leahsmommi, I would but he is always working and any free time he has he wants to spend it with his family. Not mine. Yes he is, but he's at fault. He recently betrayed me and he thinks I'm going to do the same thing. it's his own guilty conscious that is killing him. Sometimes I think maybe I'm making a mistake by staying but my feelings are so involved that I want to make it work out, however if it continues this way I'll have to end up leaving.

@ingridm89, oh that's horrible, hopefully he gets over it, although he should squirm for doing you wrong. Forget about it, and enjoy the time you have with family. He'll get over it

@leahsmommi, yeah, we'll see how it goes in time. I'm getting pretty sick of it. Yeah, when I have my moments of lashing out he gets all butthurt but I don't care. He did this to himself. I just hate how his mom treats him like a baby. She literally treats him like a child and that's why he is the way he is.
