Small babies are practically nocturnal! My daughter is 4 months old and she still doesn't sleep well! The longest she'll sleep is about 4 hours

@daisysmummy, aw I know I'm tired and frustrated I guess, I could cope with four hours I guess, I've done it all before with my son years ago and I think I remember him being like this for around 4 weeks ish then he started to settle better. But around 10 weeks I had to do the controlled crying thing which was hard but worked a treat, he was great after that, slept through 7-7 at 3 months. We'll get there in the end, suppose I'm just having a moan lol missing my sleep ha ha

I cuddle my little to sleep, I'd never leave her to cry

@daisysmummy, I cuddle this lil one she's far too young for that, but with my son we got to a point where I cuddled and rocked him to sleep then laid him down and he just pinged awake lol so I had to try something, he was obviously older at 10 weeks, I used to go back in and comfort him leaning it longer and longer until hi managed to do it, it gave him the independence to get himself off to sleep he was great after that and it's only a few nights of doing it and they just click with it. I would never just leave a baby to cry themselves to sleep I couldn't do it xxxx lol I remember I used to sit on the top stair and listen to him for 5 mins then keep going back in, hard but it works xxxx

Yeh I think it's basically a waiting game. As time goes by though she'll start to go longer between feeds. Max was 1 1/2hrs sometimes he barely made 2hrs. By 5 weeks though he was doing much better. By 7weeks I started a bedtime routine which really helped. He started sleeping longer & by 8/9weeks he was sleeping through. I'm sure you know already from having a baby they don't know the difference between night & day. So from day one I do feeds very different day to night. Night time I don't talk or fuss. I'll cuddle of course but once they've had a feed I lay them back down, keeping interaction minimal. Where as during the days there's lots of talking & being silly & noise etc. It was very draining those first few weeks for sure!

@sara-lou, @mrsmowmow thanks ladies, I know it's just s case of waiting as she's too young and is all over the shop bless her. Another month or so and I can start a nice bedtime routine etc...I think I just like bouncing stuff off you ladies for inspiration when I'm frustrated lol....everybody has their own way don't they, whether it be co sleeping etc...I say whatever works for you and is safe is the way to go. Thanks for the advice xxxx

I also did what you did with regards to getting them to sleep. I couldn't let my boys cry & cry. But I also wouldn't rock them off to sleep. Both my boys have slept through from 6-8weeks & are very happy boys so I don't believe your going to scar them for life by letting them cry for a minute or 2 lol. But we all do what we're comfortable with doing. I don't take much from books. I think it's trial & error & experience, as every baby differs 😊👍

if she settles in the moses basket id just switch to that as shes obviously content in this and just do as i did and except money spent on crib was a waste @hawkie75 xx

@sara-lou, spot on Hun! I'm with you on that. @tg123456789 I had been thinking I could put Moses basket inside crib with her in for a few weeks to get some sleep then try her again xxx

i would do as hettie was same she wouldnt sleep in crib nor the moses basket! so both was waste of money. the only thing she will sleep in is the carry cot of the pram. silver cross wayfarer which is safe for overnight sleeping. had to put this on the stand for the moses basket and shes been fine since. o have also twice put this inside the cot and again she was fine. last week and half shes been doing 10pm to 5.30 to 6.00am and its been heaven. before she was waking every 2hrs though @hawkie75 xx

@tg123456789, I'm torn on what to do tonight, I really wanted to persevere with next2me crib as it's lovely to look across and see her and stroke her head etc I with be able to do that as well with Moses basket. But then sleep is the aim I guess lol

@hawkie75, perhaps it's the angel on the mattress my bubba only like to sleep in her pram Icandy peach or the next2me but on one condition that the mattress is slightly higher on one end tilted of you like. Just place several rolled towels underneath the mattress. My midwife said it's perfectly acceptable. Xx

@saraelisa, yeah I've already done that Hun, the chicco next2me crib has the function to tilt it so I already have xxx
