I've never heard of it hurting the babies back. I've done it with my daughter all the time. She is now 7 months and does it herself now with no issues.

I don't think that's true! If you worry that it may be true just set her in a boppy pillow that way it supports her back

As long as you support the lower back she will be fine.. Its when you support the top and the lower back has a gab it can hurt the spine.. I didn't it and my daughter was fine.. Their bones are pretty soft still so she'll be good
