Has anyone given there baby water at 6 weeks? Our son will be 7 weeks Wednesday at his last dr appt we asked about giving him water dr said breast milk is mostly water so there is no need. Both my husband and I wanna give water even though they say he don't have to have it bc almost every single feeding he spits up like constantly I feel like. Sometimes it's just fresh breast milk but other times it's somewhat clumpy. Dr said it could be bc sometimes the milk is richer depending on what I have ate. When it's not so runny he usually cries when he spit up. I feel like it similar to him throwing up and I would want a drink of water after to fresh my mouth so it only makes sense to give him one. I have not even tried bottles yet. He is getting plenty to eat ( weighs 13 pounds🐷🐷) and I wouldn't substitute it for milk or anything. Then again all the spit up could be from overeating.

Doctors don't recommend giving water that early. My daughter just turned 7 months old and they don't want her having more than 2oz of water a day. I don't see any harm and doing it. Just make sure you only give a little

@briannabdb, really still at 7months that's crazy I will be giving my son water at that age regardless of what they say. Wondering the reasoning? To me it only makes sense to give water bc I'm sure he has a bad taste otherwise he wouldn't cry. I think he may have acid reflux and u know how that taste.😝 well I assume I will try tomorrow with a bottle just a little drink at a time here and there. Watch he probably won't even suck a bottle silly boy. He just loves the boob.

Lmao! Lucky you my daughter wouldn't latch but I also have big boobs so I believe it was hard for her. Yeah it's crazy! My daughter loves water I don't see any harm doing it just make sure you don't do to much.

@briannabdb, I did nipple stimulation( natural labor inducing) and was getting colostrum out weeks before his birth. Plus I latched him on within 30 mins of his birth my one fear was not being able to breastfeed so it worked out for us perfectly. My boobs r big too sometimes he suffocates and gasp if I don't hold my finger near his nose haha. But with the boppy and right positioning he's all good. So do u give her formula or breast milk? Some babies I hear just don't latch I feel blessed. That's awesome she loves water i think the key is to start them young. I hate to see a picky eater or a kid not drink nothing but sweet juices and cows milk.

I produced so much milk!! And didn't keep up with pumping so ended up losing my supply. So she is on formula and baby food and dinner food she loves eating dinner with us! She isn't picky at all!! Lol she will eat anything and everything! And she already knows how to drink from a straw 😭😭

@briannabdb, that's just wonderful. Ur a great mama that's awesome she isn't picky I don't plan to give baby food but go directly to table foods obviously things like avocado banana potatoes and purée other veggies. What age did she start eating table food? As for pumping I was planning on doing it but things have gone great with on demand boob feeding I really have no need to pump. I hope to eventually so I can store milk for when he quits nursing but I have a while bc I plan to nurse until at least his first birthday

I started her on baby food at 4 months and she hardly eats baby food I still try it every once in a while but she mainly prefers eating table food! She absolutely loves avocado! So it's a win win because her father hates avocado and he is really picky lol she loves peas, mashed potatoes, strawberries, bananas, just about anything she will eat I started around 6 months giving her meats.

That's a good age 4 months my sis was crazy with her first kid she wouldn't give him anything until he was one year. My husband and I both literally eat anything. Only food I don't eat is beets so I always tease and say I will give baby beets for his first food only bc I want him to like them. What ur husband don't like avocado he crazy he don't know what he is missing. It's probably my fav food. When preg some days I would have like 3 I know that's so much fat but o well🐷
