So I just found out I've been living with mold my entire pregnancy... I'm freaking out ... :(

I was so sick my 1st pregnancy from Mold. I got pneumonia so bad I had to go to the hospital. My doctor told me I needed to move because it would be bad for my son when born. Is that something you can do?

@egaylep2, yes we are trying to find another apartment but our lease isn't up here yet. We talked to the owner and he's not willing to let us break the lease, so it's pretty much either stay here and try to fix the problem or break the lease and ruin my credit. They're having someone come look at the mold tomorrow, but I don't know if they would be willing to rip the carpet up and replace it free of charge considering it wasn't our fault. (the water tank was leaking in the utility closet for months and we didn't know). I've been here my entire pregnancy and had no idea about it until today. I've been sick on and off my entire pregnancy along with my SO. Now I understand why.. I'm so upset, and scared for my baby. I'm due in 19 days and I would have nowhere other than my parents house to stay until we got something figured out. There's really no room for us there... ugh ..

We got out of our lease free no issues because of mold. If landlord is not willing to assist you can call the Health department to come look at it. If they see it unfit to live in they will give your landlord 15 days to show proof of working on it. If he doesn't fix it you will have to leave but you will have proof why and he can not do anything about it such as charge you.

@egaylep2, does that law apply to Michigan as well?

I am not sure. But if a residence is being rented out it has to be fit for humans to live in. That is where the Health Department can help.
