sitting in the doorway of their room making sure there isn't any playing until it's spotless. it recently came to my attention that by cleaning their room (out of frustration) it made my son's believe they have a choice whether they clean up their mess or not. the conversation went a little something like this

me: please go pick up your room

4 y/o: no thanks you can do it yourself.
