Any nurses or something on here: my husband said he just threw up and it was black and stringy.... I didn't see it so I'm not sure if it looked like blood or what. But he also has pretty bad acid reflux all the time. Should we be worried? He feels fine... just don't know if we should worry about the throw up

If it was blood, it's most likely old blood if it was that dark. It could definitely be associated with acid reflux. Does he take any medication for it?

He said it didn't look like blood... but I know black can mean old blood like you said. He doesn't take medicine because he's forgetful🙄 @ash621

I think if he's saying he feels fine that's a good sign. What I would watch for is nausea, more vomiting, or any issues with bowel movements. Acid reflux can cause ulcers, and that would be my main concern right now. A daily antacid like Nexium or Prilosec would definitely help, but I totally understand it's hard to remember. If he has another vomiting episode, I would call a doctor. But for now I would watch and wait @jleightutt

Vomit in blood often resembles coffee grounds. He should make a doctor appointment. He could have a peptic ulcer.
