Any advice on how to fit in pumping while home alone, when you've got a baby that eats like a little piggy constantly. The naps during the day are far & few so I hardly get the time. She really loves to be held, but even more so just in the company of others. She's 7 weeks today, & I haven't returned to work yet. But I'm worried I'm not pumping nearly what I'd like to be accumulating at this point. Sometimes my first pumping doesn't even get to happen until after noon! My breasts don't typically get terribly engorged over night, but she will eat on and off after we wake up between 6-8am for HOURS. I'm not one to leave her to sit & fuss, & I don't want to pump when she's still awake and alert because I want to still have milk when that 15 minutes of calm is up & she wants my boob again. She gets super pissy when I'm out & she wants more. But I also have forceful letdown, so that frustrates her also. & obviously pumping helps with that. I own a nipple shield, she hates how big it is in her little mouth. We came home 4 lbs 1 oz so she's quite a bit smaller than an average babe. Idk, any ideas of how to work around her being awake & needy so I can pump more? I get anywhere from 5-55mL from both breasts combined at this point. I have back up formula just in case but we've never had to break into it. I don't want to have to break into it. I love breastfeeding & want to be able to do it for as long as I'm able.
Right after I nurse my daughter I pump for 10 mins, that way even if she's not napping she's happy from just eating lol then I just do that every time she nurses. And I'm starting to get a pretty good stock up
good job on the breast-feeding momma.. sounds like a growth spurt:) I believe there is one between 6-8 weeks ... if you can try pumping as soon as she goes down for a nap.. or you can nurse and pump. if she sleeps well at night you can set your alarm to pump while she's sleep, as your supply gets better you'll be able to get a quicker outcome.. I usually pump.for less than 10 mins and I get roughly 8oz. if you have a baby carrier or a swing turn on a sensory video let baby rock and you can pump. also nursing after you pump is good.. stimulates more milk to be made :)
@babyelkins2016 lol yeah I have to get back to pumping even tho I have a good stash I stopped pumping to replace feeds lol I need to start back.. I got 5 oz last night :(
