I have a question, and it's not to come off offensive or rude or however someone may perceive it. But ok say you are married to someone and you don't have a job. How does one just go about relying on your husband for money for anything and everything? Me personally I would have to have a job. I would want my own money. I mean living with my ex I wasn't able to find a job but I was also in my third trimester. But I never asked him for money. He would buy food and drinks and stuff but he didnt pay my bills or buy me clothes or whatever. I just don't know how someone goes about fully relying on a SO for everything and anything? Again this isn't meant to come off in any type of negative way I'm just curious.

as a stay at home mom, I see that as my job. Yes my husband is the only one making money, but it's our money since we are married. everything is shared. I believe once you are married everything should be shared. money, responsibilities, chores etc. I don't see it as "living off of him" because we are a team and my job is staying at home and his is providing for his family. that doesn't mean that I don't try to make extra money when I can Whether that be from selling crafts or from babysitting other people's kids, but that isn't for me to have my own spending money, that is to put towards what our family needs

I get your point, I've been working since I was really young and this is the longest I've gone without working, I'm used to making my own money and blow it on whatever I want to, it was hard at he beginning but my husband made sure I felt comfortable and made me understand that we're a team and whatever money he makes it's our money cuz we're married, we shared money before, so it really isn't an issue, i still spend money on whatever I want cuz he makes me feel comfortable doing so

Yeah @p0790, that's my thing is I would feel uncomfortable about it! But I'm glad your hubby lets you know it's ok and helps you out. That's how it should be!

What @kmharr3 said. My job is taking care of my son so we don't have to put him in daycare (that's our choice) .I constantly keep busy doing everything around the house as well as spend quality time with my son teaching him new things and trying to engage with him as much as possible . I plan to homeschool as well, so that will be a whole other challenge in itself. I mostly am in charge of the money, budgeting and bill paying . I know how much we have to spend for the week and if either one of us needs personal items such as clothes we put it in our budget. So it is a team effort and it works out pretty well!

My husband has been the only income for a majority of our relationship and marriage, which is 6 years. It really rather simple. I do not ask him for money. We have ONE bank account. His check goes into that account. We both have debit cards. It's our money. In marriage you share everything. Marriage is 100% not 50/50!

@kmharr3, I couldn't of said,it better myself when I think a marriage I think as a team effort and everything is shared i am not working now but I normally, like working to help contribute to the bacon and I was once the bread winner in a sense when my DH was laid off and he took on the more helping around the house more since he had more time until he started working again and I think, since we a team we don't live of each other but we help each other out and, when i,have my baby I'll go back to work cause being at home all the time isn't for me as,much as, I bet. I love,my son maybe work part time but when we,need things we just let each other know or one of us can see the other clearly need somthing but I think it's all about sharing and team work and helping each other out everyone does it semi differently but no 2,famlies are the same so it all work out differently for each but with the same concepts of sharing and team work cause their alot of what is needed in marriage or the idea

I homeschool, I cook, I clean and keep his children alive lol enough said! I see what you mean though. I am currently working and doing all of the above but this week is my last week I was just trying to get a little extra cash for this baby coming any day now. I am over it haha I'm done trying to do it all. I enjoy being able to take care of my family and have the privilege of investing in my child's education and interests. We too have one bank account, he never denies me anything and I try to be conscious of what needs come first. I had a hard time with it at first but my husband has made it very clear his money and everything he has is just as mine as it is his.

@jenidoll, see that's how I feel. If a woman works she still has to do all the things a SAHM does. I feel like that's where our country has gone down too! Taking mothers out of the homemaker role. It's too much for one person to do it all.
