My ultra sound is October 20. Im wondering if I can get the blood test to determine the gender. Will I have that option or is only offered to some? This is baby #3 but I've always found out by ultra sound. Im due May 1st.... any May mommies?

I believe they don't do blood work before 13 weeks

@tatiananoelani, that's what I thought. but my OB told me I would be getting blood work done along with my ultrasound to test for DS and I should request a gender test. I didn't even think I could this soon. But I do see a lot of preggos finding out the gender at 9+ weeks. I'm not sure if it's something they paid for or requested at an appointment.... Lol hmmmm

My OB said the panorama blood test can tell the gender as early as 9 weeks, not all drs give that option unfortunately

@mommytoprinceaiden092915, that's what I've heard. I'm just going to request it like my Dr said and hopefully the ultrasound tech offers it.

You need to request it before you get there, at least a day before, so they can have everything ready for it. With mine they took about 12 vials of blood 😷

Usually they don't offer it unless you are older or have had multiple miscarriages or history of chromosome defects. I'm hoping to get it done not for gender but because I've had multiple losses and want to know if this baby has any defects

@corinasolorio, Im sure they will order it for you. They better, so u can have peace of mind. It would be nice if I did get to find out the gender but I wont be too disappointed. As long as everything else is all good.

You can request it, but you'll most likely have to pay for it if you have a private insurance (anything other than Medicaid)

You ask your dr if they offer it. If they don't then you outta luck! They can do it as early as 8-10 weeks! And it can be extremely expensive if your insurance doesn't cover it, because it's not for gender. It's to see if they're are any abnormal chromosomes. Gender is just a plus.
