Ok I really need to vent. This is gonna sound terrible but I really can't stand my in laws. And not because they aren't nice. They're very nice in fact. What I can't stand is their blatant ignorance!!! My son is moderately autistic, and any time I bring it up because they're doing something that's against all the therapy we've doing my mother in law just says "he doesn't need it, he'll grow out of it" because she truly believes that things that are diagnosed disorders or whatever are behavioral problems and not real! I went away to Florida to pack up my belongings from my house and came back to my son completely having bad behavior! They undid 2 weeks of therapy in 2 days! I'm furious!!! They didn't do any of the homework with him because he got upset, they didn't brush his teeth because he's sensory and screams when it happens, they didn't brush his hair or bathe him because he didn't like it. They gave him whatever he wanted, and now he's back home and not understanding why his bad behavior isn't working. I want to strangle my mother in law! I sent strict instructions and she followed nothing. She'd cry when he tantrumed because if you allow him he'll hit himself for attention. I can't!! I have a half a mind to never let him stay there again without me. Ugh, all that work down the drain.

@mrs.n2014, I'm so furious. I tried to talk to my husband but he told me I was just being unreasonable and hormonal

I really wouldn't let my child go back. my ex's mom was the same way. (mind you we also believe my daughter is on the autism spectrum) it got to the point where she wasn't allowed with my daughter without me there.

thank you @vamommy89 @ajourneywithtwo I don't think I'm letting him go without me. his behavior has been so terrible all day, like he never even started therapy. that means I have to start this process all over again. all I want to do is scream at my husband and his family. I don't think he understand how upset this makes me because he never works with him, I do all the homework and stuff the therapists tell us to do. I feel a lot more validated knowing I'm not being "unreasonable and hormonal" lol

Your husband needs to seriously sit down with them and let them know that being autisic isn't having bad behavior. Or even all of you sit down and talk. I wouldn't let him over there until they know the seriousness about autism.

No use your whole mind and don't let him go back cause this is hard work and if they can't respect that then that's wrong

@irishtwinmomma, I tried having that talk with them multiple times since he's been diagnosed and I still get the same response that he'll grow out of it. the only one that takes it seriously is my father in law but no one listens to either of us. I feel now tho I need to sit down and almost threaten them so they can listen to what I'm saying

@mommyofcohenjayceandmatthew, @momma0821 @maygi0221 I agree. but I don't think they will because I'm "young" so I must not know what I'm talking about. it started once I pointed something out with my brother in law (he's also on the spectrum but was never diagnosed) they told me he just had a behavioral problem and that the autism must be from me. then they got him looked at just to prove I was the problem and he was diagnosed as autistic. ever since then they've been determine I don't know what I'm talking about and it's just a behavioral thing

oh my I wouldn't tolerate it if someone tells me that. like I said ones to my in-laws the meaning I'm young doesn't mean I don't know anything. I know more than you two specially when you know all the facts .

@maygi0221, exactly!! I've done so much research as soon as I knew my son was autistic. I'm not just talking out of my ass. I try to get along with them for my husbands sake since my family is so apart of my sons life and his family hardly makes a effort but I'm not going to force him down the throats of people that don't even respect my wishes!
