So, in IL you now have to leave your child rear facing until two years of age, my question is do any of you mommies know a good car seat that starts as rear facing but can transition to front facing? I am going to need to get a new car seat before long but I was hoping to be able to turn her front facing at a year old and now that that is out of the question, I have to figure something out.
@cjolove93, No kid at 2 is to big to rear-face it’s the safer way. My son is turning 3 in 7months still rear-facing he only weighs 25.6 pounds 34inches tall. He is still comfortable.
Must be a new law or something then @cjolove93 my son is half my height at least lol that's crazy that they want them facing backwards that long.. I guess whatever's best for their safety. In a couple years it'll be something else that's newer and safer.
my baby girl is still comfortable and nowhere near outgrowing hers at 8 months but I just think that is overkill @ashleymonae
my baby girl grew out of a carrying seat at 4 months she was wide and long. they need a life
I got the Graco 4-in-1. it goes all the way to a backless booster seat. I'm set completely til she doesn't need anything anymore
Oh I understand! I think a lot of convertible car seats can be both, at least quite a few that I've seen can
@emkasting I'm all for whatever keeps my baby girl safe but I don't want to have to get a new car seat every year lol
@rennysmommy, I just went to WIC today and there was a big notice up saying that it is a requirement of the law now... however I don't see how it can be seeing how as some kids are gonna be way too big to be rear facing at almost 2
I never knew that was a law? I just moved from il. My sons 16 months and I have already turned him around. On the car seat (graco all in one I think it's called) it has forward facing height and weight requirements and he reaches them
We just got Greco extend 2 fit for our son yesterday we felt this was the best option for him because he is off the charts in height so this car seat will allow him to rear face for longer comfortably with his legs . We then can do front facing and it grows with how tall they are. After this he will be old enough for just a booster seat
Kids rear-facing for a long time is safer then being forward facing.
