so I think my girl has nipple confusion and I'm trying to break her off the paci but it's not working because she won't latch on my breast for comfort and when she does with the shield she screams when she gets milk because she just wants comfort. If she's hungry though she will eat from my breast with the shield! I feel like I've ruined breastfeeding...I don't know how to break this cycle

As a breastfeeding peer counselor, I have seen nipple shields be the absolute downfall of an otherwise wonderful breastfeeding experience. It's very common for baby's to have nipple confusion with them. If you try starting the session with them, and gradually take them off.

@emiswymn, I do but no matter what I do she screams and cries and won't latch. she'll suck maybe three times them come back off and won't latch again...I'm worried she's tongue tied. I was..

If you suspect that, you need to get her to the ped pronto. If you don't catch it and treat it early enough it can cause bad problems.

@emiswymn, I had mine fixes when I was older. her two month appointment is next week. I just can't figure out what else could be the issue because she was doing fine like two weeks ago
