How long after a c-section at term do you normally get hold your baby? I didn't get to hold Delos…

I held her right after I got out of recovery, and they let her stay in the room with me over night.

I had my baby at 36 weeks due to preeclampsia. I got to hold her for maybe 5 mins or so right after I had her. I was also on magnesium so I didn't get to go visit her in the NICU til the next day and we were able to start breastfeeding then. The lactation nurse will come visit you shortly after and get you started on the pump so your milk will come in. This also helps with contractions so the uterus will shrink. I got to go visit my baby girl the next day after I was taken off of the magnesium. But since she was in the NICU she never came to me

I got to hold my son as soon as he was pulled out. He stayed with me the whole time

and I breastfed right away also

if he doesn't have to go to the nicu how does it work though? I keep reading that you aren't supposed to pump right away if you plan to ebf. @noelles_mommy

I hope they let me. I want the experience of holding my baby right away and not waiting a full day to see the kid I carried for 8+ months. @ginnalynn @alainasmommy916

Mom of a 29 weeker. Severe preeclampsia and HELLP. I was on Mag too. Anyway, I had to wait 36? Hours to see my itty bitty. Different nicu have different rules. We weren't in a nicu that allowed for rooming in until the last night of the nicu stay and it was optional.

I put baby to breast 32-33 weeks gestational but it was only practice nursing. Didn't get to actually breastfeed until 35 weeks because they had to measure everything going in and out of him.

it's okay. thank you. I'm glad you were able to breastfeed your little one though. I didn't get to because my supply dried up before he was able to try. @kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom

I didn't get to hold my son till 2 hours later. No delivery issues either

I got to hold & fed my boys in the OR after they were out & they stayed with us the whole time, they never went to the NICU.

my first went to the nicu only because he was born at 33 weeks. this time I will be 37 weeks when I have him @dang_dridri

@ssdj4, i had the boys at 37 weeks, they just did a quick assessment in the OR & then they were all mines.
