I think they do to some degree.the way I disciplined for biting and pinching though is that I did it back, not hard but hard enough that he understood that it did hurt and he was hurting people

I didn't really start disciplining till closer to 1 when he could some what understand me

When he started crawling, that's when mine really started getting into things. I did more of "no, it could hurt you, let's go do this instead" etc
