Ladies who already have kids, if you got an epidural, how was it? Did it only help with contractions…

well I had back labor so it only helped with the front of my body. numb from front of waist down but still felt everything else. getting baby's head out is pretty intense regardless. ..I had no long term effects

I've heard of it but nobody's ever actually explained it

it helps u relax from the pain u felt before getting it. so when ur body can actually relax where u cant feel the contractions. u actually dilate faster

baby is more towards ur back so u have intense back pain that is not relieved by epidural. in my case I took forever to dilate. .labor was 2.5 daya

@moorrggiee, I had side effects from the epidural for a few weeks to almost a month

I got it and also had back labor. It helped me not feel anything and don't think I have any long term problems from it.

I got the epidural, I was induced and got the epidural at 3 cm. after that I didn't feel anything, I actually had to ask the nurse if I was still having contractions! I progressed really fast after the epidural and then I only pushed for 30 minutes. I did not feel anything while pushing except a little pressure to tell me when to push. Best experience ever! I had a little back pain like a bruise for a few days after but that was it.

Its been almost 3 months now, for over a month i had a constant migrane and now that im working, when I lift boxes and what not I can feel a stngy pain where I got my epidural. But nothing to keep me from doing what I do. But I also suffered back pain and migranes before and during pregnancy.

For me personally, O was in labor for a few days, I got mine right before 6 and it helped with everything, I couldnt feel anything.

But once I started laboring down and getting ready to push, it just kind of went away from my waist down.

It also slowed down dialtion for me.
