My daughter is terrified of the vacuum. I try to start in the other room but she starts freaking out. She tries to climb up my leg or on the closest chair or couch. I've tried letting it run in the same room while I sat on the floor with her, holding her while vacuuming (she does better when do this but it's not actually helping the situation), I put her on the couch so she is up on the floor. It doesn't even need to be running, if it is in the same room she eye balls it and won't crawl near it. She won't touch it and if she gets close to it she will jump at the slightest noise and cry. Harley is 10 months and doesn't do well with loud noises. It's pretty quiet around here. She even cries at my cousins wedding..when they shoved cake in each other's face, every one cheered. Harley cried her eyes out to the point she couldn't catch her breath. I'm not sure what to do :(

My boy hates them too. He's fine with every other loud noise, but vacuums freak him out. We have a refuse and a roomba like vacuum. And the roomba turned on the other day while he was in his jumperoo and I was in a different room and he screamed bloody murder! Poor thing.... Watched the vacuum closely when I picked him up lol

I'm hoping this is something she can easily grow out of. I've had people make comments about it. Saying she's too sensitive, a cry baby, or a pussy. Some noises she is okay with, surprisingly gunshots don't bother her. Noises like motorcycles, lawn mowers, vacuums, people cheering, and hair driers bother her. I don't make a big deal of loud noises being scary and I don't avoid them.
