Hello! I am new to this site and have a question or am seeking some stories I hope. I had positive preg test Monday 9/12. Had ultrasound 9/19 that showed sac but no yolk sac or baby. They drew hcg which was 14,000 and mentioned miscarrying multiple times as I wasn't for sure how far I am. My periods are very irregular. I had a redraw of hcg Wednesday (9/21) which was 15,000. I went in today for another ultrasound which showed a yolk sac but still no baby. With the very little increase in hcg and no baby on ultrasound- dr feels I am for sure miscarrying. I have had little cramping. Absolutely no bleeding- if still no bleeding by next Friday I am to call and have repeat HCG. The dr told me today to process knowing I am miscarrying this weekend and to call for any concerns. I don't want to give up hope- any help or advice please?
Also- we have been trying for over a year. I took an ovulation test which was positive on 8/22 and 8/23. If this helps.

I feel like if I am 6 weeks or less you wouldn't see anything on ultrasound besides a yolk sac. But my hcg only rising 1000 in 2 days seems to concern her most. It should double I guess? I'm not sure

They really don't have a heartbeat or show up that soon for you to see. At 6 weeks I was 30,000 hcg so 14 is good. I wouldn't automatically assume your miscarrying. did they do the ultrasound transvaginal? or abdominal

@mommyofsoontob3 @mrs.n2014 I felt it was soon to do 2 ultrasounds in 1 week but the HCG level being so slow rising is I think her biggest concern. Do you know of anyone or yourself that had a rise of only 1,000 in 2 days?

I still wouldn't assume anything until I know for sure

At 5 weeks my hcg level was only 1798. Usually if they can't see anything on the ultrasound they try again within a week or 2. Usually you can't see a baby til after 6 weeks. If you had nothing and then had a yolk sac I would think that was a good sign. Call another doctor and make an appointment

It's called a blighted ovum. I had one last year, its where the sacs develop but no baby, they're very common. 1 in 5 pregnancies.

But with this pregnancy I went in at 5 weeks 5 days for an ultrasound and there was only the gestational sac & yolk sac. & my doctor said it was just too early. I didn't go back until 9 weeks 5 days and there he was with a strong heartbeat.

agree that hcg should prob be rising faster than that and @kspeakman2016 explanation seems likely.

Yeah, HCG should be at least doubling every day.

If your numbers are rising that's a good sign 🙄 switch docs or get another opinion from a diff Doctor. I've read your not suppose to see a yolk until 6 1/2 + weeks and sometimes not even then. Think positive. Do some minor exercising, take prenatals and talk to your baby. I hope that helps
