My only advice would be that if they do try to induce you before you're past due, ask and make sure they have a legitimate reason for why they're inducing you. A lot of doctors will try to schedule unnecessary inductions and cesareans simply because it's more convenient for them. I was induced at 39 weeks and didn't think to ask questions, I didn't know I had a choice, and it turned out to be simply bc it was convenient for my Dr. I ended up having a lot of complications with the induction and a lot of pain and stress that would have been avoided had I been able to go into labor on my own (or at least had been given the possible chance). Induction puts a lot of stress on the body and it can make it more painful, so I personally (and maybe it's bc I had such a traumatic experience from it) would not recommend being induced unless 100% necessary. 💖💖 I totally understand wanting to try and Jumpstart labor, though! It gets tough there at the end.

My son came out at exactly 38 weeks on Saturday by himself, I never tried to get him out. I had a scheduled C section for 39 weeks. And he is perfectly healthy and weighted 7lbs and 8oz. It's always good to wait but 38 weeks is pretty safe.

this isn't my first go round. I was induced last time due to IUGR, basically she wasn't gaining anymore weight, I was losing due to severe vomiting, blood pressure was elevated & I'm epileptic. high blood pressure and being sick can throw me into a seizure at anytime. so I was induced at 38 weeks. My doctor isn't one of those, my friend sees the same doctor and is going on 40 weeks pregnant she's been begging him for an induction, but he just doesn't see the need. with me it's different, that's why I posted this. Bc people are So quick to judge and comment their opinion without knowing why someone is getting induced or wanting an induction. I wish I could go into labor on my own, but definitely not worth the risk of my life or my child's. but thank you @katarama

I was high risk and was induced at 37+1.. But baby came the next day via emergency Csection due to his heart rate, it dropped. But I'm just glad he is here thank God ❤️

@karennn, I'm not trying to get her out, I'm just wanting my doctor to induce like he did last time bc of medical issues. although I have been doing things to help prepare for birth etc. But I'm not going to the extreme as others do.

Oh I never thought you were. I was just saying at 38 weeks they're good to come out and sometimes do by themselves without you trying. If your doctor said he could do to medical issues then that's mlre than okay, and no one should be telling you otherwise.

I'd say that's pretty good reason to be induced then! 😱 that's totally different if it's needed, obviously. but some doctors just only care about their schedules. I'm glad you don't have one like that! My Dr induced me for no reason, and after the first day I had still made no progress, the pitocin was doing nothing but making my body react badly, making me 10x more sensitive to the pain. He was going to let me lie in that bed for up to two weeks before he tried another method! Pitocin during the day, cytotec at night. I originally wanted an unmedicated birth but had to stay on the Statol because I was in so much pain, my body was trying to shut down. Luckily another doctor came in, broke my water, and said if I'd made no progress by that evening they'd do a cesarean and that it was inhumane to let me keep going through all that pain when it was unnecessary in the first place. I ended up with PTSD from the pain, actually. I was in so much pain from labor that the epidural didn't even touch it and wore off after 30 minutes, and delivery didn't even touch the contraction pain.

I walked, ate spicy food, pineapples, had sex and even danced and bounced on an exercise at like 37-38 weeks I was ready for her and so we're the doctors.

at 37 weeks I'm doing everything possible to try and help her be ready.
