Finally all coming together, 17th oct I have my first of as many sweeps as I can tolerate in the week leading up to my induction. I do love my midwife, when I first met him I was unsure as he is male but he's by far the best I've had. Even said if I wanted them to call him to see if he can come to the hospital to deliver me I can. If he's working that day. He laughed when I said the consultant didn't know about placenta encapsulation, he even went as far to say if I can stomach some raw in a smoothie he has seen many successfully benefit and avoid depression post delivery. Then followed up with " but I am a hippy midwife" lol so I'm now counting down the days only 3.5 weeks left till my sweeps start. I'm so done being pregnant and with the constant worry all round something serious may go wrong with the pregnancy continuing due to my last 3 of 4 being that way. Here's to getting this baby out safely !

Great news! I asked my midwife about the placenta, and taking it home and she wasn't very keen. That I could face a battle to take it home due to it being human tissue (for hygiene purposes). I'm shocked it's my placenta! If I want to take it home then I want to! They weren't very helpful sadly. I do hope I won't be missing out if I can't take mine home x

According to the lady that does it plus back up by my midwife who is also the home birth co and works at the hospital too he said they cannot refuse u take it as it is your property. I have been sent the info from the lady and the type of dish I need and my midwife has even written it in my notes and it's on my birth plan. And his words were don't let it out your site the worst they do is make u sign to say u won't ditch it somewhere. There isn't a policy that states u can't take it with u. As it is your property Hun. Hope this helps u.

@suzie80, That is very helpful and I will indeed write it down in my birth plan thank you. Do you intend to freezie it Hun and then send it for capsulation? I'd rather take pills than to eat it. I have no idea why I wasn't given much advice when I asked. I'll take that up with my midwife. Xx

Have u found someone local that will do it? A lady near to me does via placenta options. I'm not freezing as it looses its goodness well some of it. I'm having her collect from the hospital or from me depending when I'm home it's within 24 hrs up till 10 pm u can phone her to arrange collection. She will encapsulate it or make smoothies and return capsules within 48 hrs. Cost was 160 pounds. But my midwife suggested a lob a bit off as he said and drink it fresh as it gives an excellent boost. And stems bleeding etc. I take a lidded Pyrex dish in and label it and take a cool bag with ice to keep cool and keep it with me or have the hospital refrigerate it

I found a company 17 miles from me but must look into it a little more for someone who's closer to home. Thank you for sharing this I'm seriously considering doing the same. It's fascinating and thank you a lot @suzie80 x
