I was the same. I had my last growth ultrasound around 19 weeks. At my 35 weeks appointment, my doctor just felt around my belly and estimated how much he was weighing. I don't know how accurate that is though. 😒

they probably won't even try to. my doctor would feel her from the outside of my belly lol. and he determined she was head down just from feeling the outside as well. the only time they might check baby's measurements is if your measuring ahead or beind.

@nicipicky, that makes my aggravated lol. i feel like they need to do an ultrasound around 34-37 to determine the baby's size

@mdomke22, luckily my little one has been head down for the past few weeks, I had an ultrasound outside of my doctor's office a few weeks ago to get a 3D one and he was already head down!

Yup. That's what I think too. And to just check on everything at least.

they do it by measuring and feeling. every appt. I go to they give me a weight estimate after measuring my belly.

@nicipicky, ive heard that some doctors do, but I know for sure mine doesn't, but for other reasons I probably won't go back to them next time around.

@tks020615, they always measure how far along he is measuring and check his heart beat with the Doppler, but I have to ask them what the heartbeat was and what he is measuring because half the time they don't even bother to tell me 😒

@sawyersmomma, yeah sometimes I be having to ask what's the heartbeat too. lol. I have midwives so I see a different one every appt. I'm not really a fan of seeing someone different every appt. going to see if I can get an OB next time

@tks020615, I go to an OB's office and still see someone new almost every time, at my doctor's office they want you to meet with everyone because there is no telling who will be on call when you go into labor. I'm the same way though I would much rather just see one person!

the ultrasound is just as rough of an estimate. if you're not needing a third ultrasound, it's good news! means the baby is doing well and everything is normal. baby doesn't need to be exposed to that if you can avoid it.

by the way your belly measures and the way the baby feels when the doc checks, they'd know if there was anything wrong. don't worry mama!

My ultrasound was so off. They told me I was going to have a ten pound baby and she was only 6lbs 4oz. The second time around I skipped all of the unnecessary ultrasounds, ended up going over my due date, and he was only 8lbs 2oz. My midwife told me to layoff sweets at the end because that is when they fatten up
