Tomorrow I will be picking up my SIL and nephew from the greyhound station in Indianapolis and they are staying with us for 2 weeks and my husband is talking about driving them home when it is time for them to go back which is about 6 hours away in Missouri not sure how I feel about driving that far with a newborn...any other mommies go through the same thing???

Just let him go alone. Stay home. i wouldn't have my child out that soon for that long
You have to take a break every 1 1/2-2hrs because the car seat is not as safe as people think especially for newborns. It can easily restrict the airways and a child that young is limited to 2hrs in a car seat. plus feedings and changes. If I were you I'd stay home with the baby rather than have the child go with.
The only thing that I am worried about is his license is suspended
