My little girl hadn't gone to poop for the past 2 days and I was starting to get a bit concerned.. I looked on internet and it said it can be normal if they aren't in obvious amounts of pain etc just wait for a few days and they should go.. well she went this morning but to start with it was harder than usual but once she got that out it filled the nappy. So she's a little constipated.. what can I give her (if there is anything) to hopefully stop it from happening again? She didn't appear to be in pain, she was winding and trumping away and was sleeping and I know if she was that uncomfortable she wouldn't be but I don't like thinking she was uncomfortable.. thanks :) x
They don't need water @clairey until they start eating food but my mum used to give it to us to help & a midwife said it was ok if constipated. It won't harm them.
shes too young for milk magnesia babes so try some cool boiled water x @clairey
she's 2 weeks and 5 days old I've been using infacol to help her with trapped wind.. after the hospital she was having a poo then missing a day but this was the first time she had gone a couple of days. she's on aptamil I didn't think you could give cooled boiled water yet as a lot of people seem to think it's a no no but I'm probably going to give it a go to see if it helps but thank you for all your replies.. big help!! 😀 @natzie86 @jessicahorn @mother_of_humans @sara-lou @jordllew @bethrolls @karenb1601 xx
if shes been and ok now id just keep an eye on it. if she doesnt go again for one day then i agree with @bethrolls but u couod also put a tiny bit of brown sugar in the water x
my little boy had problems with going for a poo, my midwife told me to try cooled down boiled water and if he didn't drink it try a little bit of milk powder in it. also circling his legs up and around and lightly massaging his tummy
how old is she? try milk magnesia they sell it in boots for around a fiver i give that to my little girl and she had a poo the next day @clairey
If she was happy & fine in herself I wouldn't worry so much. I know everyone thinks babies poo a lot but Morgan never did. He was once a day or maybe every other day as a baby for a while. When he was a newborn & really constipated he went days, over a week once. We changed his formula from SMA to Aptamil. He was clearly in pain as he'd be pushing up his legs wriggling around & get distressed so I offered cooled boiled water in between feeds. I also moved his legs like he was riding a bike.
infacol or ifs she's bottle fed try get a milk that helps colic and constipation .. cow and gate one helped for my daughter xx
I've always given cooled boiled water to my four from a very young age. I just gave a few sips between bottles
