remember my story about the sailor who gave birth deployed. well I got the message on the day she gave birth! she's seriously a badass

So listen to this. A sailor in another squadron on the ship gave birth to a baby super early this morning. First of all if females are pregnant they can’t go on deployment, and if they get pregnant while on cruise they get sent home. So this sounds like one of those “I didn’t know I was pregnant” stories. Apparently she went to medical and they told her she had a UTI infection and gave her Motrin and sent her away. Turns out she actually had a little too much baby in her vagina. A few hours later she came back and she was in labor. So now they have this newborn baby on the ship, and last I heard they had to make it a heated box and they swaddled it with like sweatshirts or something so it has a place to live onboard, like a puppy or something. The IKE doesn’t exactly have an NICU down in medical. And they can’t fly the baby off because it’s a day old. So the baby has to live onboard until we pull into port which is still a while out. We’re planning on getting the print shop to make a giant “World’s Best Granddad” card and hiding it in their skipper’s office when he goes flying. I mean she’s been working on the flight deck all cruise where it’s 120+ degrees on a daily basis hauling chains and god knows what else, she’s lucky the baby survived! Guaranteed this story will make it back to the states so keep your eyes out for that one, they’ll probably try to spin it into a “9/11 miracle baby on a US warship” story no doubt. There’s an old maintenance officer in our squadron who’s been in the navy since 93 and he said he’s never heard of a story like this, crazy things going on out here.
