I was encouraged to have one but declined. I felt like the risks outweighed the pros. Even if I knew my son had Down syndrome it wouldn't have changed whether I was going to go through with the pregnancy so I said no.

Oh okay . I've been asked to have one my princess been passing all the test with the sonos . Doesn't show any signs of Down syndrome or deformities as we know it she's a healthy baby . But me and her father have a blood disorder called thalassemia we both have it minor so we don't have any issues with but because we both have the baby could have either the trait like we do or have the actual disease . So they want to do the test down the line to see where she stands with that . I go back to see them when I'm 28 weeks to give them a yay or nay . So I wanted to know if anyone has gotten it done and if had any problems behind it . I know my friend had it for the same reason and had zero problems was just sore where the needle went but that's it and everything came back clean for her baby only had the trait . @ceeasquared

If I'm not mistaken, the further along you are the higher the miscarriage risk. I would say just do your research and you'll make the best choice. I declined because it's not like they were looking for something they would be able to treat after he was born. If he had downs we would have just lived with it and moved on

The high risk consultant said you either do it during the first trimester or during the 20-28 weeks or in the end they do it during certain times . Because they go by the baby weight or something. So I'm guessing when I go back in 8 weeks they lol schd it right away . If I decide to do it . I've been reading and a lot of people had it for different reasons and had zero problems they said it more scary than anything . But that's the thing honestly I think she's fine because as many test meaning sonos I had already and she exactly where she needs to be in growth in organs she perfect they said so if she had the disease I'm thinking something would be alil off . But idk I'm not a doctor . But at the same time I think it would worry me to not know where she stands with it . But the thought of just sticking a needle through my stomach just scares me even though they're not touching her @ceeasquared

they had to do it for me because I was hospitalized and they needed answers. they had to stick me tgdee times because the baby kept getting in the way. the last poke, the baby tried to put his arm in the way so the moved the needle up and down to make him move away. it hurt like hell but in my case I think it was because it was three pokes. I was 28 weeks at the time and baby was born at 37 weeks. the results of the amnio came back fine. thank God

but for my situation it wasn't for Downs testing. I'm sorry I should've clarified. I was having contractions off the charts, my vision was blacking out, and a few other complications, so since very other test was coming back fine they wanted to do an amnio to see if something was up in there with him.

@jeanetta25, you have the right to say no and just do blood work..i see a hr risk dr also because.of my age..i had 2 healthy pregnancys before and this one is good as well just for my age i go..they have tests for many dif things like in my background im jewish and we carry cystic fibrois..but i personally don't.like i said its up to u..but.u can always request just blood work to be done tells everything as well.good luck..

Okay that's great !!! I've heard people say it hurt and then some said it didn't so I guess it depends on the person and how it goes . I feel alil better hearing that . I'm more so worried about the test versus the results I'm pretty sure my baby is fine because as of now like i said they don't have anything they see that would make them think other wise

I've had the blood work done for me and partner had it done for him were both minor carriers which is nothing to worry about . But they wanna still test to see the babies levels . They said I can wait because as far as they see she's completely healthy . But at the same time my partner baby died in the womb at 9 months from the same disorder but that's cause the mother had it major plus his minor . So I guess they wanna be safe than sorry. But I'm just really on the fence because I don't have a reason to really worry about my princess and im just scared to do the test. Because what if im that one person that has an issue after having it . @sherrynygirl

Would you guys do it both you and your partner results were non threating and your baby so far passed every test during the sonos and showed no signs of having any problems what so ever ? @jessicruz @sherrynygirl
