I need a bit of advice:
Harrison was perfect the first night we had him home. The second night he cried constantly and nothing was wrong so we offered him a dummy and he calmed down straight away. Last night he would not sleep longer than 10 minutes at a time. He kept knocking the dummy out of his mouth and crying for it back. He was fed, burped, nappy changed, wasn't too hot or cold but constantly looking attention. I thought maybe the dummy wasn't enough comfort so I wrapped him in bed with me and he went straight to sleep. I don't want him to only be able to sleep in our bed because I'd be too scared of squishing him as its only a double. We tried putting him back in his Moses basket and moving it to a different location in the room, I tried rocking him to sleep and I even tried playing womb noises of YouTube but nothing worked! My partner and I are exhausted and I know that's what to expect with a newborn but did anyone have a similar issue and find a fix? I'd try nearly everything at this point...

@lauramorg, he sleeps fine in the basket during the day so I don't understand.

I put grace at the end of my bed In her Moses basket,so she knows both myself and my partner are close by to her and I've got a fan constantly on a 1 that moves as well so she settles

Unfortunately, that's what newborns are like :/ maybe try swaddling him? I found with my daughter than when she was tiny, the only she'd settle in her Moses if I wrapped her up night and cuddled her and rocked her until she was fast asleep, you can see if he's fast asleep by gently moving his arm and if it's all floppy then that's probably the best time to put him down... I also found playing lullabies on YouTube worked, you can get videos that go on for like 12 hours 😂 of course every baby is different and you will find what works for him... Until then, try and sleep as much as possible in the day because newborns tend to sleep better in the day 😂😂

@daisysmummy, @dannielle1996 I'll have to do a bit of trial and error tonight then lol

@canteloupe24, it is difficult but it gets better as little one grows

@canteloupe24, maybe try co-sleeping? Safer way to have the baby closer to you at bed time. Next2me cribs or similar ones. Bit of an extra expense though:/ otherwise I would just preserve through it, bubs will get used to sleeping eventually. He's just popped out so is still probably quite disorientated xx

If you can, i would definitely try and get him sleeping in his own bed, co sleeping is fine but the earlier they get used to their own bed the better xxx

@kmcf2302, we only have a double bed so between me and my partner there's very little room. I'd be too scared of squishing him. His Moses basket is right beside me though I can just put my hand over to comfort him.

@canteloupe24, I don't mean you having him in bed with you, I can understand the reservations there... I would be worried about squashing him aswell. The next2me crib or similar ones give them their own space and their own bed so you physically can't roll onto them and they can't roll for the first few months either. The main reason I'm doing it is breast feeding right enough, it's meant to make it much easier. @daisysmummy it's a great way to do both cause they have their own bed aswell as being close to you :)

I haven't read all the comments @canteloupe24 but I had a very similar experience with Max the first week or 2 when he came home. I think it's just them adjusting. I would be up & down like a yo-yo trying different positions, rolling up blankets in different ways etc. I think it's just trial & error but just keep being consistent & I'm sure he'll settle soon 😊

Max didn't like being swaddled but the first few nights he liked to feel secure. I would roll up 2 blankets & laid them either side of Max, but before laying him down laid a blanket over top to smooth it all out & Max in between. That helped the first few nights until he got more used to his crib.
