Sorry I didn't see you commented back. If your last period was on 8/18 then ovulating on the 8th would be a little late for ovulation with a regular cycle. With yours being irregular you should probably test any time after the 15th seeing as how it'll be 4 weeks from your last period. If its negative wait a week and test again on the 22nd :) and for us to see you've commented back you have to type @ and click on our username :)

i would just go by your missed period i would take one a day after your missed period
