Started Albie on baby rice and it's been a god send! He sleeps for 12 hours through the night…

I've heard that baby rice is just empty calories and they don't actually need it

@mrsmowmow, it's literally only been the last two nights this has happened I'm still BF but mainly formula now and then I'm adding In baby rice at lunch time it's making such a difference Hun I still wake up though thinking he's gonna wake xxx

mine were weaned at 8 weeks hun and it was a God send! if they don't want it they won't eat it. never did me or my sisters any harm. this is why I stick to olden day rules because midwifes today live by what a book says not what a baby wants or needs xx

How is it empty calories? @daisysmummy I would of thought because you can mix it with their milk that it's just a different texture for them x

@holliesinead, I remember my health visitor telling me what I can and can't do. I asked how many kids she had......none! point proven! I have nieces and nephews coming out of my ears, 3 children of my own and I know what I'm doing. the 4 month plus is a guideline that the law stipulated needed to be put on food due to a handful of incidents with babies and rice etc xx

@holliesinead, I've only ever heard that weaning early can cause stomach issues but nothing can really be proven... Personally, I'm going to wait because Daisy is fine on just milk xx

So glad it's going well for you @holliesinead - we tried Violet on it last week and she just won't take to it :( can't wait till she can try all different things! Hope it continues. And I also disagree with the ruining their insides because that's how people were raised "back in the day" as it were. My uncles ex wife weaned all hers at 6 months and none of them have had a problem x

@lucyjade, just try every now and then there's no rush at all it all depends on each baby I mean Albie is a lump and just always wants feeding so that's why I tried violet ovbs just happy having milk xx

@holliesinead, yeah I know we got advised to wean her because of her problems. I'm not bothered just doctors are doing my head in but if she doesn't want it I'm not gonna force her. Violet never finishes a bottle haha xxx
