My Labor Story:

Tuesday morning I got to the hospital at 7:00 to begin my induction process. I was already 2.5 cm dilated prior to coming in by the way. At 8:00 they started me on pitocin and at 9:00 my doctor came in and broke my water. I didn't start feeling my contractions until about 11:30, but they weren't bad enough to get an epidural. Every time the nurse came in to up my pitocin my contractions would get stronger, but I pushed through them as long as I could. My contractions were a minute apart for about 2 hours and the pain was so bad that I finally got the epidural at 3:30. Due to my contractions being so close together it was causing my daughters heart rate to fall so they took me off of pitocin for about 2 hours. Then at 5:00 they put me back on it with a very little dosage. I was checked for dilation at around 6:00 and I was only at 5cm. At this time I started feeling my contractions again, but didn't think much about it and just kept trying to relax. They were getting to the point to where I couldn't breathe again prior to the epidural so I asked the nurse if my epidural was wearing off and she said that it shouldn't be, but they went ahead and let me push the button just in case. The nurse told me that if it doesn't start working within 15 minutes then to let her know. Well after 15 minutes they still weren't gone and they were stronger and closer together (around 7:00). The nurse said she was going to check me for dilation just in case and sure enough I was at 8cm and she was almost crowning and that's why I was in pain. She told me that if I start feeling the need to push them to let her now. I already felt that way for quite some time, but I held out as long as I could before calling her back and telling her I needed to push. She checked again and had me do a practice push and half way through my practice push she made me stop and she rushed to the wall and called my doctor to get in the room fast because she was crowning. So he came in and they started prepping everything and I finally started pushing! I pushed through 3 contractions and I was finally holding my baby girl who was born at 7:53! By the way, the pain was excruciating while giving birth to her. I thought I was going to pass out, but once she came out the pain immediately left. I had a first degree tear on the skin which wasn't bad at all. We are at home and breastfeeding like a champ and gaining weight.
