What's everyone's opinion on swaddle blankets? heard alot of mixed reviews..some people saying…

My oldest 3 hated been swaddled but my youngest would only sleep if been swaddled. As soon as that blanket wrapped her up she was gone for hours but if I put a regular blanket on her she'd only nap for 20-30 mins at a push

These days many midwives and health visitors will make u un swaddle your baby. Was a new thing for me as they swaddled all of my previous babies. The consensus is that a baby cannot wriggle free of the swaddle if they overheat

It's still not a constant thing and it's not everywhere but my last was born 2.5 yrs ago they they refused to let me swaddle and the health visitor was the same here

The general idea now is to swaddle their arms with a cellular or light blanket but not their legs, swaddling their legs can lead to clicky hips, as long as you use a light cellular blanket or breathable material they shouldn't overheat but keep an eye on room temp and what they've got on underneath

I swaddled my daughter, it was the only way she would settle. she wanted to feel closed in. I also rolled up blankets and put either side of the moses basket so she felt secure. no harm happened to her, was the only way or I was having no sleep at all. I no you can buy things to put in the baskets or cot but I didn't no about them, but will be buying one with this baby x

My area advise again it. If you do you swaddle from under the arms which I see as pointless. I think as long as baby hasn't got too many layers then swaddled I'm sure I'll do it if baby finds it comforting.x

I've bought a number of different sleeping bags ranging from 1.0-2.5 tog. Heard they're a lot safer than blankets and swaddling x

when I had my daughter the midwife told me they weren't supposed to do it but she swaddled her because I was too ill to do anything for her x

I always use gro bags only because if they get too used to being swaddled when they are too big they won't go to sleep as they are so used to it whereas gro bags go up to a decent age and they help control body temp ( hope that made sense I am totally knackered lol) xx

@mummy1984, yeah I know what you mean..that's what I've bought a few of instead of swaddle blankets just cause my niece used to prefer being in a gro bag...just wanted to make sure before I bought swaddle blankets haha xx
