This is so important and so many people need to see it this way. This is the way me and my SO have always viewed it. When I came into his life, I accepted his children like they were my own. No they don't call me mom, because I am not mom, but they know that I am there for them as if I was their mom. I do everything for them that a mom would do. It disgusts me to see people say 'his kids' or 'they aren't yours why do you do so much for them'. But they are mine, yes it is a learned love and it takes some time especially if you weren't there from birth, but the end result is amazing. Especially now that me and him have a son together, we make sure to keep it fair and them to feel just as loved. We never refer to him with the boys as their half brother, it's their brother. We all together are a family. Not half family, not step family, not anything else, FAMILY.
