They say you can't bath baby until the umbilical cord has fallen off... They won't let you bath baby in hospital xx

Oh and how many boxes of 6 pre sterilised bottles of formula do people take in? Baring in mind I am having a section and may be in a few days? Just thinking if she feeds every two hours going to need quite a lot ?

i bathed my sons in hospital on the 3rd day of us bein in check with your hospital. im guessin youd need 3/4 boxes im takin in two and hopinfor a natural delivery xx

@daisysmummy, see this is why I asked, the rules have obviously changed since having my fin 13 years ago lol thank you, so I don't need to take bathing stuff in, do they get you to top and tail them?

@hawkie75, might be worth giving you midwife or the hospital a quick ring and asking these questions because I've heard it varies from hospital to hospital. They made me bath my daughter before I could take her home (mind you was 7 years ago) but I've heard similar things from friends who have had babies. Also about milk, I would ask if they provide milk as some hospitals do and it could save you the hassle xx

@hawkie75, check with your hospital about milk because mine provided me with milk in little bottles :)

@hawkie75, I was only allowed to wash my daughters hair... However, because we didn't bath her and were told we weren't able to clean the umbilical cord, she got a nasty infection in her belly button and I had to stay in hospital with her for 2 days! She was on an iv drip and just 6 days old... All because I was told not to clean the umbilical cord xxx

@jod1303, thanks Hun, I'll ask about the bathing aspect at my pre assessment next week. I was going to take 3 boxes in which will be 18 bottles but I'm thinking I may need more of she's feeding every two hours ?

2 years ago I had a nurse ask me is she could bath my baby but I said no ill do it at home ☺ I suppose each hospital is different

I was in for 5 days after having Mollie and they said no to baths! I bathed Mollie as soon as I came home

How interesting I have never heard about having to bath baby at hospital before @hawkie75 @jod1303 @kmcf2302 I was also advised not to bath baby until the umbilical cord fell off, just top & tail them until then. So interesting how different areas/hospital give different advice... As the other ladies have said I'd definitely ring the hospital or ask your midwife with regards to milk as well. The Hopsital I had Morgan in I had to take my own so I did with Max (different hospital) & I didn't need it. They had every brand of milk here & I was allowed to use that.

@sara-lou, it's weird isn't it. I feel like they're always changing the rules and advice on babies haha. Considering how often everything changes I feel like they should offer second time mums a refresher baby course or something since there's no antenatal classes for second timers 😂😂

@hawkie75, take 3 or 4 im sure theyd give you more if you needed hun as they have supplies for women intendin but cant breastfeed. @sara-lou was two years ago now may have changed? xx

@jod1303, I had Morgan just over 2yrs ago... I think it is different areas/ midwives opinions etc that differ. I've had it even with health visitors. One says one thing & another says the opposite. No wonder parents get confused lol. I never went to those classes first time around @kmcf2302 so probably wouldn't have second time either 😂

Oh this is interesting, good question Hun. I had baby wipes but my hospital won't allow them so I'm taking cotton wool. Was told water and cotton wool is enough. Also asked midwife about milk, and I'm taking a couple of those already made up bottles of milk in case I can't breastfeed. X @hawkie75 think it depends on the hospital. My friend was allowed to have her OH stay with her and sleep on the chair in the ward. But at my chosen hospital not sure that's allowed. So many different rules! X X

@saraelisa, yes it seems like they all have their own rules! Lol I'm taking wipes and cotton wool so I'll just do either lol I'm guna ring up regarding the bathing thing I'm just curious now lol
