Are ear infections contagious?

I was asking because I had plans for Henry and I to meet up with a friend of mine and her son today, but she said her son has an ear infection caused by drainage from allergies. I didn't know if there would be a risk of Henry getting an ear infection if we hung out @mustremaincalm
