Well here was my #laborday story. Well we tried to get pregnant for almost 3 years and we started to give up hope after my ob telling me it might not happen, but one day when we least expected it, it happened. I had a pretty smooth pregnancy in the beginning and all was going very well. I was constantly panicked though of him not being held in there tight enough due to having a leep procedure and part of my cervix removed.
I had lots of pain due to sciatica issues because of my back, but I kept on trucking bartending and serving. So then at my 37 week appointment, I had an ultrasound and she started making faces when she was looking and my heart immediately sunk and we asked her what was wrong. So then she started asking questions and I began to panic. Here he was only measuring at 34 weeks and his belly at 32 weeks. And I didn't totally understand. So she then told us to wait while she took the scans to my actual ob and he decided to see me and talk to us. So then he gently says he has concerns because of his growth is showing only 4 lbs 10 oz so he sent us immediately to get a NST because he believed he was IUGR.
So then began my twice a weeks NSTs and daily panic attacks whether my baby was okay and what would happen. Then he discussed induction (he is against unless medically necessary) so then he said he wanted to wait until I was 39 weeks if we could so I would be father but didn't want to go past 40 because babies with IUGR can get to stressed out during a vaginal birth due to being so small. So finally at 39+5 I was induced.
In such disbelief I was being induced and so happy to finally have my son. But then worrying if he was okay, what size he would be, if he would have problems because of it, would he be in the nicu. So they sent a neo natal nurse who specializes. I was induced in the morning around 9 after having cervidil put in at midnight to try to soften my cervix. Then my doctor came in around 1 to break my water and then things got pretty real. I tried to push through the pain with no epidural but I caved. Then I was checked around 3 and I went from a 2 to a 5. Then she kept coming in around 5ish because his heart rate kept dropping on the monitor. But she didn't tell us that so we started to wonder why she kept coming in. Here, I was almost at a 10 and he was engaged in the canal.
So she immediately called my ob and he rushed over and almost didn't make it cause I kept feeling like I had to push and it all went by so fast. Before I knew it he came in and did some practice pushes and he was like oh yeah it's time and ran out of the room to scrub... I pushed for about 20 mins and then my little man was born. The minute he put him on my chest the whole world stopped. And I knew them putting him on my chest meant he was probably okay. Then they did the normal little tests and he was perfectly fine and weighed 6 lbs 5 oz, so he was just a small baby and my placenta didn't fail him!
Now he's a healthy happy 4 1/2 month old. 😍
