I dont get why people are so against women wanting a natural birth. What do people think women did for centuries before…

I dont get why people are so against women wanting a natural birth. What do people think women did for centuries before modern medicine came out with drugs to manage pain? Im sure they had other natural ways of pain relief, but people act like natural birth is the most barbaric thing you could ever do. Just because pain meds exist, doesnt mean everyone has to use them. Last night when i was in pre-term labor, before they decided it was best to stop it, a nurse asked me if i wanted IV pain meds. I declined and she insisted I take them. I declined a second time, she insisted again saying "Oh honey theres no reason not to take them, they are there for a reason, dont try to be a hero. You wont be able to handle the pain anyways. So just take them now" I ended up having to request another nurse because this one wouldn't drop the topic after I had said no almost 5 times. The second nurse was much more supportive of what I wanted, I wish everyone would support natural birth like she did.
