My life was flipped on its axis during this pregnancy, let me tell you. My house burned to the ground. I went from being a mom of one with one on the way to a mom of 7--all within 3 months. It was one thing after another. I was stressed and trying so hard not to be, but I nearly burned out. My hyperemesis was at its worst the last 20 weeks, and I was on intravenous nutrition. I didn't touch solid food because textures, tastes, scents, and appearances simply sent me reeling. This little guy gave us a big scare at 27 weeks. I went on procardia and strict bed rest to try to keep him baking a few more weeks. It slowed the contractions but my doctor wasn't satisfied with how many I was still enduring, so at 28 weeks we were admitted. I was bored outta my mind. Being in that bed all day every day was so far removed from my regular life. We completed the shots for his lungs and played the waiting game. It was mental torture--how does one stay calm with all this going on?! I'm naturally upbeat but it was rough. And contrary to what people think, it is NOT easy to suppress worry. I was aggravated to see people not appreciating life when mine was in a shambles and I was fighting for my son to get a chance at his!!! My mommy friends were my saving grace. My husband was and is my ROCK.

We had an external cephalic version on February 20th because he was frank breech. It worked...but 6 hours later I felt the familiar pressure because he turned himself right back!!! The doctors wanted to try again, but I refused. I asked if I could deliver him vaginally (because ALL birth is natural) & after a long 24 hours, my doctor agreed to let me. I knew I'd have a cesarean without a 2nd though if needed, but breech babies can be delivered and I wasn't going to be forced into a surgery when it wasn't necesary. Baby was in no distress, and aside from pain neither was I!

After the ecv, they stopped the procardia. Meaning if labor started again, it wouldn't be stopped. (I begged them to let him bake at least 37 weeks. 37 is NOT term, it is EARLY term, but I wanted him to stay in as long as he could as long as he wasn't in distress.)

I slept all day February 28th. I was over EVERYTHING. I woke up at 9.52 pm and decided I wanted vanilla pudding. By now I was used to contractions and pressure ripping at me, so I thought nothing of it.

A nurse came in to check me. At 10 pm, I began pushing. Three pushes and he was born, butt first with no meds, at 10.05!!!

I only had a minimal tear, but my pelvis had 4 hairline fractures. The baby was alert and sooooo serene, and I was able to nurse him right away. He had no lingering effect from how he was crunched up in there, except he liked to sleep with his feet in the air for a few weeks after.

If you're wondering, I totally got pain meds after his first feeding. That Tylenol 3 was much welcomed, along with the giant Chipotle bag.
