This is gonna be 2 in 1 and a long post. #momlifephotos #laborday This is the first time I held my first born, I was so happy his eyes were open to look right back at me. The upper right was the first time I saw my second baby boy via ultrasound. The bottom right was taken today, my soon to be two year old asleep cuddling his baby brother due in a few weeks but I might be induced again due to choleststasis this time too. Labor story: Due October 4th 2014 It's a boy: Silas Chase King Wates Born: September 22nd 2014 38w 2d 6:03pm Since the beginning of my third trimester I started itching but thought it was my just because my skin was stretching. As time went on it got worse. Around the 20th of August my itching got really bad, I would scratch my stomach for long periods of time until I went numb or was in pain and bleeding. About a week later the itching spread to my arms, legs, back of my hands, and tops of my feet. September 1st I went to the emergency room and told them what was going on they checked to see if I had any visible rashes and I didn't, so they drew my blood to test me for Cholestasis of pregnancy and gave me a prescription: Atarax for itching. September 8th I made a doctor's appointment cause I hadn't seen one in a few months since I moved across country and back. I had to do my one hour glucose test since I never took it. They told me only part of my results came back and that it was negative, so they drew my blood again to double check. On September 15th I went back to the doctors and they told me my results came back abnormal and I was diagnosed with cholestasis and that the doctor wouldn't let me go over 38 weeks. Also my glucose test results got lost and I had to do it again. Sunday September 21st at 9pm was my scheduled induction. To start my labor process they gave me an enema and I got to be off the monitors for a hour that was from 9-10pm. They continued checking me and around midnight they started Pitocin. They had to check my blood sugar every two hours but for some reason my numbers were high and they started checking every hour. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I wasn't diagnosed with gestational diabetes but my glucose test results came back abnormal as well and I was supposed to do a 3 hour glucose test but didn't have the chance to since I was being induced. Eventually my numbers came down and they finally stopped poking me and I was able to rest. I'm not sure what time it was but at some point early in the morning maybe around 3am the doctors came in and checked me and I was still one centimeter they said 2 was being generous so they said they could continue Pitocin or give me the folley bulb so I took the bulb. They put the bulb in filled it with water and tugged and taped it to my leg to keep the pressure there. They told me every 30 minutes they would need to keep tugging on it and offered me an epidural I said no. It was a little painful but uncomfortable too so, I got meds through my IV, I tasted it and the nurse said I should feel sleepy and I said no I don't then I said now I feel it and a few minutes later I was out! Around 330am they came to pull on it and it completely popped out! I went from 1 to 4 cm in 30 minutes! They continued pitocin and I just laid in bed. The nurses laughed at me and would run in my room asking "did you feel that?" I'd look at them crazy and say no because I didn't feel any contractions and they were off the charts. By 7cm they decided to break my water at 12pm and asked if I wanted an epidural again I said no. I started to feel my contractions as soon as the nurses left my room and to cope I would stop breathing. My mom told me to get an epi since baby needed oxygen. My son was not effected in no way shape or form from me not breathing but I did it to be safe. So at 1pm I got an epi. Due to me having slight scoliosis they had to stick me twice the needle hurt more than my contractions and I was sure to let the anesthesiologist know she was hurting me more than my contractions she did it successfully but I did not like her haha. The epidural reduced my contractions but I still felt them. Fast forward to about 545-550pm I randomly asked my mom will I know when I need to push and she said "oh you'll know! Why?" I told her I wasn't sure if it was pressure of his head or I needed to push so she went to get the nurse and she checked my blood pressure, temp, and cervix, I was 10cm with a fever. The nurse yelled "we need to get this baby out now!" She was panicking because 2 other babies were coming at the same time and there was no one to deliver my baby a few mins later they all came in. I was able to listen to my body and push when I felt my contractions. As soon as I started pushing you could see hair. I looked through the mirror to see my son being born. I did 4 pushes for his head one for the shoulders and he was out. Born at 6:03pm 6lbs 11.5oz 19in. He had a fever as well so I couldn't hold him skin to skin right away I got to hold him and breastfeed him for a few seconds before he was taken away until almost 11pm. He was on antibiotics for 48hours me for 24hours. He had to stay an extra day due to jaundice.
