With that birth weight he is pretty small for his age. But that's none of my business on how/what to feed your child

@ainsleighsmumma, yeah. It took him until 2 months old to rehit birth weight. And until 2.5 months to hit 9 I believe.

Did the dr recommend anything ? Have you tried cereal in the bottles ?

@jk0516, I would personally increase his daily calorie intake but it's really up to you and your pediatrician to decide what's best.

@mommagi, we have tried the rice cereal and it's not doing anything for him. @ainsleighsmumma we have even tried doubling formula to water and it didn't work. He likes his eating schedule 5oz every 3-3.5 hours and a 7.5 oz for bed and morning. Just not seeing the "great" weight gain.

I don't have any advice for you, sorry but to make you hopefully feel better, my husband was the same as a baby. Never was on the national charts and "malnourished" and now he's a big ol healthy boy. 😉 I hope you see improvement in your baby soon. 💕

is baby spitting up?

@haydensmommy5, he spits up a tremendous amount. Dr isn't worried and lil mans on Zantac. But it's not helping. He was going to send him to see GI but he isn't going to now unless weight drops again.

sounds like reflux. My daughter kept losing weight. She had to be put on Prilosec twice a day. Zantac didn't help.

@jk0516, has he been tested for pyloric stenosis? Or GERD? I would bring that up. Both of those are GI problems that cause throwing up and losing weight. He is tiny. My son was 15lbs at 2 months. He was born at 8lbs 12oz he left the hospital at 8lbs 2 oz. He will be one in September and is 25lbs 97th percentile.

@jk0516, here's some info on pyloric stenosis. My son was tested for it and ruled it out. it happens mostly in first born males. Thankfully it was just GERD with him and he grew it out.

@guaderrama_babies2, he has only been diagnosed with reflux. Nothing more. We have only seen his PCP and seen peds once. All they did was look at his heart. Since we have started Nutramigen his spit up got worse and more of it more often. His Dr is trying to keep him away from the hospital but is concerned and won't do anything further. Yet he hates that he is lower than 0 percentile. So I am stuck and can't even get further "instructions" or info until after September 19th

But also since we have started Nutramigen his weight is picking up, we're as when he was on Similac no weight gain at all.

@jk0516, mention those two to his pediatrician. he should get him tested. go to a pediatrician. the test will not hurt him at all my son had it done. I diagnosed him and told his pediatrician and he agreed. Sometimes you haven't be stern with doctors. they don't know our babies like we know them. I'd even go as far as taking him to the er and telling them he's been throwing up extreme amounts of milk. they will do the testing there with or without your pcp permission.

@guaderrama_babies2, we are leaving in a few days but will bring it up when we get back since we have to see his PCP that day anyways. And go from there. Husband is in the Navy so if my son's Dr don't cooperate my husband will figure something out. Thank you.
