So my doctor doesn't seem completely on bored with me wanting a natural (pain med free) birth. Should I still go over my birth plan with him or would it be a lost cause? Should I just give it to my nurses when I go in to have my baby? When should I go over my birth plan with my doctor if it is worth doing? How should I handle him not encouraging the med free birth? I feel its too late to find another doctor who shares my views especially since im High risk. (Gestational diabetes and my baby is 2 weeks behind) How should I handle all this?

Don't let your doctor choose how you should give birth. I'm planning on doing a natural birth but I'm also keeping an open mind for pain meds just in case it's to intense for me since it's my first. Just give it to the birth center and they should make a copy of it and put it in the computer so the nurses will know how you want your birth to be like. Just don't change your mind on how you want to bring your child into this world. And when you go into labor I'd ask them if they read your birth plan and just remind them on what you want to do.

Your doctor can't force you to have pain meds. He should be on board with getting the baby here safely and keeping both of you safe during that process. Unless you NOT having pain medication could put either of you at risk, which I don't think it would at all of course, he shouldn't be that way about how YOU, his patient, wants to give birth.

I told my doctor and when I got to the hospital my doctor wasn't even the one that delivered my baby it was his wife so I saw no point I never should have told him

Im not changing that i dont want pain meds. Im just not sure how to handle being discouraged everytime pain management comes up and he says "well no ones going to give you a trophy for not taking the meds. " Im not against ALL pain meds and I have set a limit for when i know i cant handle it to ask for something milder like the laughing gas stuff(whats that called again?) But im really trying to avoid epidural because i want to move around during labor. And the IV meds ive had for other reasons always make me nauseous and suuuper sleepy. So id like to stay off them but my doctor seems to think that the epidural is the only effective way to manage pain...And isnt baking down on it and i want to know how to handle that without having to look at finding another doctor.@jaxxmommie22, @kdchaos

i did natural until i had to get a c section and they started prepping me . its rough . it hurts . and will probably be the worst pain youve felt . im not gonna lie . i wanted to cave in so many times . its all a mind set . if you want it , go for it !
