you have to wait till 2 months and they can only get pierced with gold studs to decrease chance of infection from other metals.

My daughter's earings are heart shaped with a pink little stud in the middle and there I believe 14k gold. May be a little more gold than that don't remember which one I picked but I had to get at least 14k.
