Need some advice ladies, my ex partner (babies dad) wants to be in the room when I give birth but the idea makes me really uncomfortable..I suppose it would be okay if we were together but I just don't feel comfortable with him seeing my 'bits' now that we aren't together and seeing any bodily functions that might happen as i hear its quite common and I know he would spend the whole time telling rubbish jokes and annoying me (definitely not what a girl needs when she's in labour) but do you think I'm being unfair by telling him he can't be there? I don't want to be a bitch but I also don't want to be dreading going into labour because I know he will be there...HELP!

no you have to feel comfortable or you will have a horrible experience, get stressed out and it's not good for baby. Just tell him straight you don't want him there x

Some men do actually change once a woman is in labour and help more than we thought they would, though I fully understand that u want to have a nice labour without all that rubbish if he does decided to be that way. Looking at his side, If he is the dad and if he wants to be there for the birth of his child something should be worked out as pregnancy and labour is made a lot about the woman but let's not forget that unless u had a donors sperm lol u wouldn't be in this position without him unfortunately 🙈. Maybe just let him be in the room when it's time to push because at that point u won't even care about what's going on and he may not even want to open his mouth at this point. Would he be ur only birthing partner? X

No your not together so it's completely up to you if you want him there or not @stephyb95 Tell him your happy for him to be at the hospital & come in once babies here. He should respect your wishes.

Did you and your ex break up amicably? I'd say the same, just compromise with him. If you're wanting him to play part in the baby's life then perhaps make a compromise. You said you don't trust him because you may feel he'll joke about the natural process of labour. I don't think you'd really need that on your mind? Perhaps he can be the first to see your baby after the labour. Perhaps be with you before and after the labour and second to hold your baby. If you trust that he will be mature about being a father to the baby. Xx

P.s being part of the whole pregnancy is just as important if he's supplying you with things you need for your baby. I hope he's been good like this for you.

@saraelisa, he's done nothing...I've heard from him twice and he's gave me £20 so me and my family have bought every single thing x

@ceecee190, one of the main reasons we broke up was because although he's in his late twenties he acted like a 14 year old and I know without a doubt nothing will make him become more mature..to be totally honest I don't think he will even be part of the babies life as he's made no effort during my pregnancy, I've heard from him twice and he's given me £20 "to get baby things" as he put it so myself and my family have had to buy everything...I think I'll tell him that he can stay outside and come in when it's all over with because I know for a fact he will make stupid jokes etc during the process xx

@stephyb95, 😐 nice. if he isn't short of cash, and gives you nothing then I'd be a bit reluctant for him to go anywhere near me. I'm so sorry he's not been supportive like the ladies said above, he may have change of heart when he sees the baby otherwise I'd really go on how you feel in labour. Xx

@littleelf85, @sophie94x @sara-lou I think I'm just going to tell him he can come to the hospital but stay outside till its all over...I get that he's the dad but the labour isn't about him, it's about me and the baby and what makes me more comfortable...I don't wanna be stressed out especially when the pregnancy is also a risky pregnancy so I doubt labour is gonna be a walk in the park haha xxx

@saraelisa, he's definitely not short on cash, constantly buying himself designer clothes and games for his x box and bought a ps4 the other week but if I ask him if he can give me money for baby stuff he always says "I've not got any money just now" Yeah I'll probably tell him to stay outside till its all over and give him a chance when the little man is here xxc

@stephyb95, then I wouldn't expect any less after the birth. I think you've made the right idea. X

Fair enough Hun, only you really know the best way to deal with this situation as you know more than us and if it's a case where he's going to ruin the experience for you, you may as well prevent that X
