My poor bub has been screaming in pain all night. his tummy is clearly bothering him. I cut dairy out of my diet a few days ago and it hasn't improved. He's still having issues with milk draining out of his nose. He really pushes with everything he is to poop even though it's very liquid. We are going to try mylicon drops tonight while we wait for gripe water to come in. Any other suggestions?? his cry is breaking my heart
Make sure the lactose removed products don't have whey or casein in them, that's dairy also and most of the products have those in them. I'm with your hubby on the soy thing lol sorry lol but yeah I know, I would think they would treat it but she said it usually goes away by 1 yr old. I'm like so 9 more mos of this??? Makes no sense. I hope you figure out what's bothering your little guy, it's so hard seeing them in pain
@bianca_rose, that's a pretty good point. I don't do any soy right now. We just buy products with the lactose removed. we pretty much avoid dairy supplements unless it's almond milk. Soy can produce an effect similar to estrogen in the body so my husband is hard core no soy near his boys (eye roll hahaha) We bring Judson to the doc on Tuesday so we will see what she says about everything. I can tell he has some reflux too but I just can't tell what in my diet is causing it. I think even if it isn't dairy, I'll probably keep it out until he's older anyway. It's sad that they don't think it's severe enough to treat with your baby.... can't it cause damage?
@sharonpaige13, thank you. No lie it is a commitment especially with food sensitivity but it's worth it to me. I just feel like I'm failing when my baby is in so much pain. As long as I'm holding him he's doing okay right now...so hopefully this isn't the beginning of a colicky adventure 😨 I'm glad Grayson is doing better! I'm so glad there are so many options out there to help us care for our little bugs.
Also, try the fridababy windi for his gas, it's been a lifesaver for me
It takes 2 wks for dairy to clean out of their systems, and normally dairy and soy go hand in hand so you may possibly need to cut that out also. My baby spits up out of her nose and dr said its normal, she also spits up a ton (breastfed) which I was told was normal too. I can tell she has reflux because I hear it come up and she gargles and I can hear her swallowing it back down. My dr said because she doesn't cry and is gaining weight they don't treat it. I think I'm going to cut out dairy too and see what happens, there has to be a reason for it, something isn't agreeing with her.
@showersoverflowers, no problem (: could be over eating too! But usually breast feeding they know when to stop unlike bottle feeding and I think it's awesome your strictly breast feeding!! Hope your little one gets better! And
I use enfamil prosobee. But he also has reflux and would have milk coming out of his nose too. I have also used similac isomil and it too works just fine. 😊
@sharonpaige13, very good information! Thank you 😊 we always have his bassinet inclined at 45° (why didn't I have one of these with the first baby???) which is still not enough hours later. I've even thought maybe he's overeating? my supply is very healthy and I know I could pump 3 to 4 ounces in 10 minutes just from one side and he's just turned 2 weeks.
@showersoverflowers, sounds just like Grayson...I wake up and have to pat his back sometimes that's why he still sleeps in my room with me!!! He hasn't done it in awhile! He might have acid reflux honestly...maybe a reason why he is crying too might not be a dairy allergy or anything just that...I breast fed and had to switch to similac soy isomil...worked wonders! But he has acid reflux so we burp him every ounce (obviously you don't know how many ounces so go off of every 5 minutes???) and then we leave him sitting up for literally about 30 minutes...and we also have him sleep at slight up right position and it seems to help him and he sleeps great at night to because if it!
@sharonpaige13, that's what I'm thinking... I just do not even know where to begin... As far as the nose thing goes, we can never lay him flat. It will happen while he's sitting as well. He doesn't burp or spit up with it. It'll just start coming out. It's scary because he'll start to choke.
@leahsmommi, @jacesterlingsmommy I was able to breastfeed my first son even with a dairy allergy. I just had to avoid it and it worked beautifully. I will do the same for this baby if need be. switching to formula would be an absolute last resort for me. Although I am extremely grateful we have so many options, I just want to stick to what nature provides for now. If we do need to switch in the future, what bands do you use?
Lol I tagged myself and not you sorry! Been a long day!!! And I meant to say something else your eating! Again line day! @showersoverflowers
@sharonpaige13, my son still does that and it comes out his nose and everything lol it's completely normal! Lol try sitting him up for a bit after he sleeps (: but if he is screaming and you cut dairy out something else might be causing it not so much his food
@showersoverflowers, I would try soy I had to do that to my love and it helped after a week or two. Takes the tummy a while to adjust
@sharonpaige13, haha all good!! we don't really know if he is lactose intolerant. we just tried cutting it out to see if it helped with the milk draining from his nose. it will happen like 45 minutes to an hour after a nursing session despite burping. It's so odd!
@showersoverflowers, try a surenge then! I exclusively breast fed to and had to put him on soy formula also as much as I wanted to breast feed I figured it was worth a shot and it was sooo much better but seriously try to give him some water...it'll help with the whole pushing when he poops and make his belly feel better that and it's available right now lol
@norms1685, oooo interesting! I've never heard of this
I exclusively breastfeed and do not introduce any other nipples (bottle or pacifier) 3 months @sharonpaige13
I had that problem with BF and my son had to be put on soy formula.
Oh sorry it said out of your diet! Lol I thought his so you must be breast feeding! Honestly when I found out my son was lactose intolerant I gave him an 1/2 ounce of water cleaned his system out and got rid of everything that would hurt his belly kind of like starting over...water is natural and good for them too not herbs or anything or drops actually work
@showersoverflowers, thanks! And for sure! It's awesome they have so much stuff to make sure we have a happy healthy baby! (:
