yes, no one truly realizes how bad we have it. We've had thousands of people's homes ruined. We have had 10,000 people rescued. It has affected pretty much all of South Louisiana and we don't know when it will end.

@vicky810, im fortunate enough to be in New Orleans and we didn't get the flooding but the national guard is out there, Red Cross, and now FEMA is involved. Also civilians who have boats are going around saving anybody they could find that need help so it's a real mess

I live in the hills so thankfully I did not flood but many of my family and friends have lost everything and are continuing to lose everything. the water has not crested yet, it's still rising. We were not prepared for this. This is not like a hurricane where the stores and people can get prepared and stock up on supplies. These houses were flooding within a day. The water rising a foot in an hour. Most of the stores are out of supplies/food due to not having overstocked because no one expected this sort of disaster. We also have never had such a flood so we have no idea which route the water will take when flowing out. We have no idea which areas will flood in the coming days. It's a nightmare and it's depressing that the media doesn't find it important to share our story. Thank God for the "Cajun Navy" as the boaters have been named for stepping in. I know more people would be willing to help if they knew the full extent of what was going on. We are just a tired community and have a long way to go before we can be "normal" again.

@_jfelder_, omg that's crazy. The reason is man made for the reason its flooding like that i just heard it on the news. I call n check on my cuzzins because they house and apartment is completely under water. They need to open all the flood gates ASAP

the flood gates being opened may help, I'm honestly not sure, but every river in the area is over flood stage and backed up . they definitely need to figure out something. these poor people just have to wait and stress about what's to come after the water recedes. I'd be so anxious to get started rebuilding!
